We’ve Joined Fertility Europe

A picture taken to commemorate Fertility Action becoming a member of Fertility Europe, includes representatives of more than 25 of members of the organisation posed for a group photograph.

We’re now members of Fertility Europe, and we couldn’t be prouder. 🙌

You might remember that a few months ago, we travelled to Oslo to present the work of Fertility Action to Fertility Europe, as part of our application to join them.

It was a nerve-wracking, but very proud moment to stand in a room explaining what this charity has built in such a short space of time. Their feedback was incredible, and we are already planning advocacy work together.

As a patient partner organisation, they kindly invited us to the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE) conference in London, where we attended the Fertility Europe AGM where we were voted in as members. The event was a great opportunity to meet other patient support organisations and understand the challenges that are faced by those navigating infertility across Europe, and also the progress through advocacy that is being made.

What is Fertility Europe?

Fertility Europe is a pan-European organisation representing 36 patient associations across 30 countries. Their work is dedicated entirely to fertility, building a network for anyone facing fertility challenges, wherever they are and whatever their path to parenthood looks like. They focus on patient empowerment, and on encouraging other stakeholders and the media to sit up and pay attention to a topic that’s too often ignored.

Why this matters

This isn’t just a new badge on our website.

Joining Fertility Europe is a major milestone for the charity. It puts Fertility Action alongside dozens of other patient associations fighting the same battles we are: the postcode lotteries, the funding gaps and the years of being an afterthought in health policy. This is a huge extension to our network and our reach, giving our advocacy work weight, and will help us push forward our fertility access campaign with more of the sector standing behind us.

We’re deeply grateful to Fertility Europe for inviting us to ESHRE, for the vote of confidence, and for welcoming us into the fantastic work it does. We’re delighted to be one more voice in the room and excited to join forces with so many brilliant support & advocacy organisations.
